Choose your Battle and choose Wisely! (Ayé Ogun)

Battles of life cannot be wished away. You can only stand up to fight (for life) or sit down to die!- Femi Adediran, 2020

Some questions are better not answered, some answers are better not questioned . “Judas” is not your battle, “the cross” is the big war that must be won – Femi Adediran, 2020.

And when all is said and done, it is “your battles” that will determine your “victory at war!” Be wise, choose the right battle – Femi Adediran, 2020

When you are selective in battle, your focus is sharp and your energy is maximized – Femi Adediran, 2020

There are battles that counts for life and there are battles that life can only count. Your ability to tell the difference is what make you a victor or victim in the many battles of life- Femi Adediran,  2020

Battles are “short term”. Wars are “long term”. A man  actually win in the short term ( In the battle) but real victory is in winning in the “long term” (at war) .- Femi Adediran,  2020

The less your battle, the greater your victory. Your distractions in life can only be proportional to your battles. If you want to be focused in life, stay out of too many battles .- Femi Adediran,  2020

When you choose not to fight some battle, it is not because you are coward but because you have since learnt that victory is about “coming out of life, alive!” Too many people “arrived” “dead on arrival” even at death. The battles of life took their breath away before their death!- Femi Adediran,  2020

You must be selective enough if you must be effective enough – Femi Adediran,  2020

Our life is a “compendium” of many battles and until we close our eyes in death, we will continuously sway our sword in the unending daily battles of life. Battles of life cannot be wished away. You can only stand up to fight (for life) or sit down to die! We must be careful and wise enough not to get engaged in the wrong battle. We live in a “battle ridden” world and a “war ravaged” universe (Aye Ogun). We are challenged to battle on every side, not necessarily because we are so fit to fight but because we are most tempted to prove a point with our lives battle. How dangerous this can be!

Until impressing others stopped being your motives, you  as well get ready for unending dangerous life battles! Every battle is not your battle. You cannot be Victorious in every battle. You win some and you lose some. To be victorious in life, you must be selective in your battle. Engaging in too many battles does not make you any better, rather you  end up in despair that  be beyond repair. There are battles that counts for life and there are battles that life can only count. Your ability to tell the difference is what make you a victor or victim in the many battles of life

Some battles does not worth your time because they take away from your life. Be selective in your battles if you don’t want to “die prematurely”. When and if you are not selective in battle,  Your breath  have gone even before your death. You are not in battle because you want to be a warrior but because you want to be a victor. The less your battle, the greater your victory. Your distractions in life can only be proportional to your battles. If you want to be focused in life, stay out of too many battles.

Some battles will “take your life” away before your death. Avoid these battles like a plague! When you choose not to fight some battle, it is not because you are coward but because you have since learnt that victory is about “coming out of life, alive!” Too many people “arrived” “dead on arrival” even at death. The battles of life took their breath away before their death! Each time you are “challenged” to battle, ask yourself the following 5 questions;

  1. What is the essence of this battle?
  2. Will winning this battle add more life to my life?
  3. If i win “this battle”, will “the war” come to an end
  4. Does this battle worth my time and life?
  5. In this battle, who or what is the “real enemy” to fight?

When you can answer these questions effectively, not until then will you be able to make an informed decision on your “choice of battle”. Be wary of battles that are not yours, you have your own many battles too, after all, you are not “Voltron”, the defender of the universe. Let others fight their own battles. Encourage them and give them moral, financial and spiritual support where you can

When you are selective in battle, your focus is sharp and your energy is maximized. If you must go to battle at all, go because you are fighting for a victory that will add life to your life and not because you will receive accolades. With accolades, a man  have “won the battle” but might eventually “lose the war”. Battles are “short term”. Wars are “long term”. A man  actually win in the short term ( In the battle) but real victory is in winning in the “long term” (at war).

And when you are in the wrong battle, you win today but you will eventually lose tomorrow. Choose your Battles wisely because:

  • Some “friends” are not worth fighting with
  • Some “perceived enemies” are better ignored
  • Some activities are not worth your engagement
  • Some responsibilities are not just for you
  • Some jobs are not “your call”
  • Some family matters are not worth throwing tantrums about
  • Some businesses are “not meant for you”
  • Some issues are not worth taking seriously
  • Some Relationships are not worth “your investment”
  • Some debts are better categorize as “bad debt”…not recoverable
  • Some allegations are not worth retaliating, sometimes, silence is the best answer if you must win
  • Some questions are better not answered
  • Some answers are better not questioned

“Judas” is not your battle, “the cross” is the big war that must be won. Some people are not “worth your attention”, it is not because you are rude or arrogant, it is just that you are now “selective in battle” and you can only face your “selected battle”. It was the “battle of the Titans” but the Olympian gods won the victory at war. Choose your battle so wisely that your war might become a walkover.

You must be selective enough if you must be effective enough. And when all is said and done, it is “your battles” that will determine your “victory at war”! Be wise, choose the right battle.
